吟雪詩暖閣賭酒　揮醉筆上苑催花\\n\\n話說武后賞雪心歡，趁著酒興，又同上官婉兒賭酒吟詩。上官婉兒每做「雪兆豐年」詩一首，武后即飲一杯。起初是一首詩一杯酒，後來從兩首詩一杯酒慢慢加到十首詩一杯酒。上官婉兒剛把詩機做的略略活了，詩興還未一分，武后酒已十分。正飲得高興，只覺陣陣清香撲鼻，武后朝外一望，原來庭前有幾株臘梅開了。不覺贊道：「這樣寒天，臘梅忽然大放，豈非知朕飲酒，特來助興？如此慇懃，自應懋賞！」吩咐掛紅、賞金牌。宮娥答應，登時俱掛紅綾、金牌。武后醉眼朦朧，又吩咐宮女道：「此地蠟梅既來伺候，想來園中各花素知朕有愛花之癖，自然也都大放。即刻備輦，朕同公主往群芳圃、上林苑賞花去。」眾宮娥只得答應，傳旨備輦。公主道：「臘梅本係冬花，此時得了雪氣滋潤，所以大放。至別的花卉，開放各有其時，此刻離春令雖近，天氣甚寒，焉能都開呢？」武后道：「各花都是一樣草木，臘梅既不畏寒，與朕陶情，別的花卉，自然也都討朕歡喜。古人云：『聖天子百靈相助。』我以婦人而登大寶，自古能有幾人？將來真可上得《無雙譜》的。此時朕又豈止百靈相助，這些花卉小事，安有不遂朕心所欲？即便朕要挽回造化，命他百花齊放，他又焉能違拗！你們且隨朕去，只怕園內各花早已伺侯開了。」公主再三諫阻，武后哪裡肯聽，隨即乘輦，命公主、上官婉兒同去賞花。到了群芳圃，下得輦來，四處一望，各樣花木，除臘梅、水仙、天竺、迎春之外，盡是一派枯枝，莫講賞花，要求賞個青葉也是難的。看了一遍，不覺面紅過耳，真是眾目之下，羞愧難當，幾乎把酒都羞醒了。正要到上林苑去，只見有個小太監走來奏道：「奴婢才到上苑看過，那邊也同這邊一樣。據奴婢看來，大約眾位花仙還不曉得萬歲要來賞花，所以未來伺候。剛才奴婢已向各花宣過聖意，倘萬歲親自再下一道御旨，明日自然都來開花了。」武后聽罷，心中忽然動了一動，倒像觸起從前一件事來。再四尋思，卻又無從捉摸。不覺把頭點了兩點道：「也罷！今日已晚，權且施恩，限他明日開罷。」吩咐預備金箋筆硯。提起筆來，想了一想，在那箋紙上，醉筆草草寫了四句：「明朝游上苑，火速報春知。花須連夜發，莫待曉風催。」寫罷，吩咐太監拿去用了御寶，即發上林苑張掛。並命御膳房，明早預備賞花酒宴。公主同上官婉兒聽了，都不覺暗笑。武后酒醉難支，即帶眾人乘輦回宮。太監遵旨，把金箋用了御寶，張掛上林苑內。那上林苑臘梅仙子同水仙仙子見了這道御旨，忙到洞中送信。誰知這日百花仙子正同麻姑著棋，因天晚落雪，尚未回洞。當時牡丹仙子得了此信，不知洞主下落，即同蘭花仙子冒雪分頭到百草、百果各位仙姑洞中尋訪，毫無蹤跡。天已夜晚，雪仍不止，只得回洞。牧丹仙子道：「此旨限期又迫，偏偏洞主又無下落，這卻怎好？」桃花仙子道：「據小仙愚見，為今之計，惟有各司本花，前去承旨。況我們這座蓬萊，周圍七萬里，上面仙姑洞府，不計其數，焉能個個遍訪。設或逾限，違了聖旨，豈同兒戲！此時即找著洞主，稟知此事，除承旨之外，安能另有別見。且洞主向來謹慎從不越分妄為，豈有違旨之理！」楊花仙子在旁聽了，不覺暗暗點頭。牡丹仙子道：「話雖如此，洞主究係眾人領袖，豈可不候號令，擅自前去？不知蘭、桂二位仙姑，可另有高見？」蘭花仙子道：「小仙同桂花仙姑所司之花，原有四季之名，四時莫不可放。此刻就去承旨，也無不合。但細細忖度，自應找尋洞主，稟知為是。況罰不責眾，如果立意都不承旨，諒那世主亦難遽將群芳盡廢。且眾姊妹雖以花卉為名，並非獨供玩賞，其中隸於藥品濟世的亦復不少，若都廢了，何以療疾？以此看來，更可放心。況時值隆冬，概令群花齊放，未免時序顛倒。雖皇上聖諭，究竟於理不順，即使違誤，諒難加罪。所謂『言不順則事不成』。若名正言順，事在必行，我們一經聞命，自應即去承旨，又何須稟知洞主。現在行止在於兩可，所以不能不候洞主之命。小仙拙見如此。」桂花、梅花、菊花、蓮花四位仙子聽了，莫不點頭，都道：「仙姑所見極是。」只見楊花、蘆花、藤花、蓼花、萱花、葵花、蘋花、菱花八位仙子，彼此交頭接耳，商議多時，一齊說道：「諸位仙姑去不去，小仙也不敢勉強。但我等雖忝列群芳，質極賤微，道行本淺，位分又卑，即乏香豔之姿，兼無濟世之用，何能當此違旨重譴？一經被謫，區區微末，豈能保全？再四斟酌，不能不籌且顧眼前之計。此時業經交丑，那旨內說「莫待曉風催」。轉瞬就要發曉，我們惟有各司本花，先去承旨。日後即使洞主責備，亦當垂鑒下情。且吾輩倘竟違旨，俱獲重罪，洞主身為領袖，又安能置身事外？今即循分承旨，彼此均無過失，洞主犒賞不暇，豈有責備之理！」因向桃花仙子道：「適才仙姑曾言：『惟恐逾限獲罪。』何不趁此結伴同行？」不由分說，即拉了桃花仙子，竟自一同而去。九位仙子剛去，只見上林苑土地並值日功曹也來相催。登時眾仙子莫不紛紛前往。那時天已漸曉，雪已住了，牡丹仙子向蘭花仙子歎道：「眾心不齊，又將奈何？小仙惟有再去尋訪。至於行止，只好悉聽諸位。」說著去了。蘭花仙子等之許久，總無音信。功曹、土地絡繹來催。轉眼間，紅日已升，眾花仙十去八九。洞中只剩桂花、梅花、菊花、蓮花、海棠、芍藥、水仙、臘梅、玉蘭、杜鵑、蘭花，共十一位仙子。大家商議多時，並無良策，只得勉強一同去了。牡丹仙子又在四處訪問，直到辰時，仍無影響。回到洞中，只剩兩個女童看守洞門。呆了半晌，無計可施；惟恐違旨，只得也向上林苑而來。武后自從上林苑回宮，睡到黎明，宿酒已消。\",
